The Eskimos face the Saskatchewan Roughriders Friday night and will have a new starting running back.
Shakir Bell will start in place of John White who hurt his hand in last week’s win over the Toronto Argonauts. White has been placed on the one-game injured list. Bell started 11 games for the Eskimos last season picking up 633 rushing yards and scoring a touchdown.
Quarterback Mike Reilly says he has confidence in Bell’s abilities.
“He’s a tested guy and he played in a lot of big game last year,” Reilly said. “He’s done all of the right things, he’s made sure that he’s stayed focused and checked in, in terms of the protections. He’s a year older, a year under his belt as a veteran now so expect him to be able to handle the load that is asked for him.”
Other changes see defensive backs Demetrius Wright, linebacker Alex Ogbongbemiga, and defensive lineman Michael Buchanan come on the roster. Running back Greg Morris and defensive lineman Josh Watson come out of the lineup.
Kick-off Friday on The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium is 8pm, 630 CHED will have the pre-game show at 6pm.
