It looks like some kind of mail disruption is on the way after negotiations continue to stall between Canada Post and its carriers.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is stopping short of a full-blown walkout, but it has issued 72-hour notice of job action
National President of CUPW Mike Palecek says the Crown corporation forced their hand when it refused to accept the Federal Labour Ministers request to continue negotiating with the aid of a special mediator.
Canada Post is refuting that statement however.
Negotiations were stuck on proposed Canada Post changes to the workers’ pension plan and pay equity for rural carriers.
The strike mandate from the Union was set to expire at midnight Thursday. (ms)
