The Mounties are out and ASIRT is in. This after an RCMP member may have struck a pedestrian who was originally hit by a pickup truck while walking along the middle of highway 881 early Sunday morning.
A caller to 911 gave RCMP the head’s up about the man walking down the highway, but a second call came quickly afterwards from the driver of the pickup truck who hit the 41 year old man. The pedestrian would die on the scene.
As the RCMP member attended the scene the squad car struck an onlooker in the hand and then may have hit the downed pedestrian, and that’s why the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now on the case.
They want to hear from the driver of a heavy commercial vehicle that had stopped at the scene and may have witnessed the events which occurred about 75 kilometers south of Fort McMurray.
