Security guards will be joining forces with Edmonton police officers when it comes to keeping us safe when in Ice District.
Director of Security at Rogers Place Kevin Kobi, says he’s confident in the plan to keep patrons safe because of the “layered response.”
“That stems from our guest experience deployment, our security deployment, our deployment of EPS officers, and it’s working collectively, understanding what the mission is on event day, and having all those groups work together to provide that level of service and safety and security in the venue.”
On top of traditional safety measures, Kobi says there are protections built into the design of Rogers Place in an attempt to thwart any possible terror attacks, but did not elaborate.
“It’s a complicated situation, there’s lots of variable when it comes to acts of terrorism, but we’re working closely with our local law enforcement partners and our federal partners.”
