Sunday is Lemonade Stand Day in Edmonton.
Across the City 136 lemonade stands will be raising funds for the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
Chair of the Junior Lemonade Stand Committee, Monita Chapman says the idea has really grown in just a short time.
“Three years ago we started it with 30 stands and we just thought it would be a fun community day,” says Chapman. “It turned out to be a huge success we raised just over $4000 that first year. Last year we made it to 78 stands and we raised $23,000.”
Chapman says another big part of the event is teaching kids to help others.
“We have a community program called Simply Supper Helps, and as a business and as a community program we just wanted to do something that involves kids and allows kids to give back to a charity and learn how to be givers.” tl/kb
