It’s being described as the first of its kind for a Canadian policing agency.
The EPS has been collaborating with the City to create an ‘online dashboard‘ that provides detailed crime statistics and performance data for the public.
It allows you to get information on things like domestic violence occurrences, impaired driving incidents, the traffic injury rate, and the number of persons with criminal warrants; along with the police to population ratio.
Police say users can also access all underlying dashboard data on the City’s Open Data Portal to share, download and comment on.
The data complements the Neighbourhood Crime Mapping application with statistics for eight violent and property crime indicators.
Edmonton police say they want to continue being as transparent as they can by openly sharing crime data with the public. (td)
