Do your children have violent video games where they can maim or kill the image of a person on the screen?
In California, they once made a law forbidding the rental of violent games to minors, but the U-S Supreme Court struck it down, saying there is no shortage of violence in children’s books.
Lawyers for the game makers successfully argued the state had not established a good enough link between violent games and psychological effects.
Psychologists said these games showed a violent way out of conflicts. Others said they trivialized violence against women.
Supreme Court said, “It’s not up to the state to keep these games away from children; it’s up to their parents.”
I just asked a local gamer what was happening, since we don’t hear much about violent video games any more, and he told me about a popular game that pretty much sets the bar on violence with a torture scene, but he thinks most people are desensitized to it now.
Let’s not forget this is a big business.
Game makers rake in billions of dollars a year.
I hope that’s not the going price for souls these days.
Let me know what you think.
