As we change more and more rules to accommodate more and more people, the latest request is the gender-free ID.
No mention of male or female on your various licenses or even your passport.
The proponents say it leads to less hassle for transgender Canadians when traveling and cuts down on harassment and even danger for them.
I remember when an Alberta judge decided that Hutterites did not have to have their picture on their drivers’ license if it violated their belief that they should not willingly have their picture taken.
Doesn’t that lead to more hassle for police who don’t know whose license that is with no photo?
I thought the judge should have ruled that a picture was mandatory, so they could say they did not give up their image willingly.
Maybe I should say no picture on my license or passport, if they won’t me wear my glasses or even smile.
My photo looks like a corpse.
What happened to my right to feel good about myself?
Let me know what you think.
