The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce supports a provincial move to fund and launch programs that help local businesses with international trade and export opportunities.
The province is investing $9-million over the next three years into the Alberta Export Expansion Package.
CEO and President of the ECC Janet Riopel says, international access is important in the success of local business.
“In an economy like this, business needs every opportunity available to them,” says Riopel. “At times like this, it has never been more important that we have the government step up and say ‘we recognize this, we’re committing funding to this, and we’re going to make this happen for Alberta business’.”
The funds will be spread out over three different programs: The Export Support Fund, the Global Buyers and Investors Program, and the Export Readiness Program. tl/kb
