A study from the City of Edmonton is on the way to see if trains should be banned from blowing their whistles when crossing through the city, especially near residential areas.
Councillor Bev Esslinger tells Global News it’s a pressing issue, as Edmonton continues to expand.
“I think citizens have been coming forward as the community has developed, in my ward in particular I’m aware of, as the community has grown out, and we’ve grown near train lines. So it’s important for us, as there’s people there, they’re affected.”
The City is looking for a consultant to investigate 15 railway crossings, to see if the whistle ban is needed. tl/GlobalNewsEdmonton
