The Edmonton Medical Examiner has confirmed Edmonton’s 29th homicide of this year.
An autopsy has revealed that 51-year-old Donald Doucette died as a result of blunt trauma to his mid-section.
Police were called out to the area of 107A Ave and 96th street on Sunday July 31 2016, around 4:45p.m., after Doucette was found injured, in an alley near a strip mall. He later died on scene.
The EPS Homicide Section believe Doucette was assaulted and robbed in the alley, by a private security guard.
Wednesday, a security guard, 35-year-old Sheldon Russell Bentley was arrested and charged with manslaughter and robbery.
Police say the victim and the guard were not known to each other. Police are not looking for any further suspects, at this time.
The name of the security company the guard works for is not being released. tl
