A high ranking Edmonton military member accused of sex crimes has been ordered to stand trial.
Lt. Col. Mason Stalker, the former commander of the First Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, was arrested last year on 10 charges.
Following a preliminary hearing this week, a judge determined the 41-year-old officer will proceed to trial on four counts of sexual exploitation and three counts of sexual assault. The charges relate to alleged incidents involving a military cadet in Edmonton between 1998 and 2007.
No trial date has been set and Stalker chose to be judged by a jury of his peers. He remains on suspension from his post pending the outcome of the trial.
