Edmonton’s Food Bank didn’t quite make their donation goal at the 2016 Servus Heritage Festival.
Edmonton’s Food Bank executive director Marjorie Bencz says they had a goal in mind, but only got to half of it.
“It’s the single largest food drive for Edmonton’s Food Bank over the course of the year and our goal was 50,000 kilograms of food. We had some challenging weather over the weekend and attendance was down a little bit so we didn’t meet our goal,” said Bencz.
This year, Edmonton’s Food Bank took in just over 25,000 kg in donations compared to around 80,000 kg last year. Bencz says they’ll be out this week trying to fill in the gap.
“We’re collecting food at all City of Edmonton fire halls and major grocery stores, as well as if people would prefer, they can go online and make online contributions to our organization. And certainly, if they want to support us, they can give us a call and we can provide them with more information.”
