Pokémon Go remains a popular pastime across the globe and it seems to be getting people more active.
Brandon Bishop, with Mud, Sweat and Gears, a bicycle shop in Sherwood Park, says they are getting quite a few customers who want to buy a bike so they can play the game.
“We have some people coming in looking for a simple cruiser style bike so they can get around easier,” explains Bishop. “We sell cases that you can attach to your handlebars for your phone and I think that’s what people are using it for.”
Bishop says the game seems to be doing a lot of good because it is getting people off the couch.
“It is good for people to get out there and experience some areas they haven’t seen before, or try out different trails that they haven’t walked or ride on before and it is definitely good for your health because you’re riding a bike,” explains Bishop.
He says as a rider, he’s noticed a lot of people playing on trails and is concerned that they are not paying attention and causing collisions.
He adds, players should always be cautious of cyclists, joggers and others on the trails around the city. (twd)
