High Level RCMP made a couple of separate busts involving guns and drugs on Wednesday afternoon, both involving suspects from Edmonton.
The first one took place when officers stopped a vehicle near Bushe River, after noticing a problem with its licence plate.
It led to Billy Littlechild, who is 20, and Brandon Dumais, who is 22 — both from Edmonton — being charged with possessing a prohibited firearm.
A male passenger, too young to be named, is facing a single firearm possession charge; and the driver is also facing a firearm offence, among other charges, since the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured.
A few hours later in an unrelated case, High Level RCMP say an investigation resulted in the seizure of a loaded SKS assault rifle, a loaded sawed off shotgun, and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Justin Cross of Edmonton, who is 18, is facing numerous firearm and controlled substances charges, among others.
High Level is located about 740 km’s northwest of Edmonton. (td)
