Local police in Germany said there was a “threat situation” at a movie theater in a town in the southwest which allegedly involved a weapon.
Police spokeswoman Christiane Kobus said she couldn’t give further details of what was happening at the Kinopolis movie theater in the town of Viernheim.
She would not confirm German media reports that an armed man had entered the movie theater and fired a gun.
According to further sources, there was said to be over 25 people injured within the theatre, with local police in a standoff with the alleged shooter.
The injury reports turned out to be unfounded. The gunman was shot dead by police and several people were injured by tear gas thrown in by police.
There are no other injuries. (bg/bl)
