After releasing him on Sunday the Eskimos have brought back National safety Cauchy (CO-SHE) Muamba and have placed him on the team’s practice roster. Muamba was among the nine players who were released outright on Sunday.
Head coach Jason Maas explains the reasoning behind bringing him back.
“He wasn’t ready to go through camp, we couldn’t get a proper evaluation on him,” Maas said. “He was accessible for us after the cuts were made and willing to come back and we welcomed him back with open arms and to make an impact on our practice roster first and then you never know how the year goes from there.”
Muamba didn’t practice today and it’s not known when he will be able to return. Maas says if all goes well he can see a potential spot on the active roster for Muamba.
The Eskimos announced a number change for quarterback James Franklin who will now wear 2 instead of 14.
The Eskimos host the Ottawa REDBLACKS on The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 5pm, 630 CHED will have the pre-game show at 3:30pm.
