Police say the Australian child psychiatrist arrested after allegedly filming a young boy in the bathroom at West Edmonton Mall had hundreds of similar images on his computer.
According to WA Today, an Australian newspaper, Aaron Voon appeared in court Wednesday and a “statement of material facts” was read aloud that alleged police found 409 images classified as Category 1 child exploitation images, and 12 videos of young boys urinating stored on his home office computer.
The police prosecutor told court that Voon could be seen in some of the videos, including one that showed him following a child from a theatre lobby, and others showing him about to turn off the device.
The 41-year-old is back out on $50,000 bail subject to a number of conditions. He cannot be within 100 metres of a public park, swimming pool, or any area where people under the age of 18 could reasonably be expected to be. He can’t work or volunteer with people under 18, and cannot be within a metre of a camera, mobile or any electronic device capable of sending or receiving any message or taking photographs. Voon also cannot apply for a new passport, his was seized when he returned to Australia, and cannot be in contact with any person under the age of 18 without their parent or guardian present.
Voon is scheduled to be in Edmonton court Thursday, but it wasn’t immediately clear whether he’ll appear via CCTV. His bail conditions include staying away from airports and not leaving the state without the court’s permission.
In Edmonton Voon is facing charges of possession of child pornography, making child pornography, and voyeurism. In Australia he faces charges of possession of child exploitation material. (kb/wa today)
