A young girl remains in hospital after hit by a garbage truck Wednesday morning.
Early investigation leads police to believe the garbage truck was waiting at a yield sign on 28 Stereet to turn left onto 43A Avenue around 8:45 a.m. The 11-year-old was on her bike on the left side of the truck, so when the driver started to turn he hit the girl, running her over. She was treated by EMS at the scene and was taken to hospital. A police spokesperson describes her injuries as possibly life threatening.
No charges have been laid against the driver at this time, but the investigation continues. If you have information you’re asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online. (kb)
