The Eskimos have lost one of their best defenders from the 2015 CFL season as defensive back John Ojo is out for the 2016 season with a ruptured right Achilles tendon.
Ojo suffered the injury at practice on Monday, he needed to be carted away from the field by the Eskimos training staff.
Last season Ojo recorded the second most interceptions in the Western Division with five picks returning one for a touchdown. Ojo also recorded 43 defensive tackles, four pass knockdowns, one fumble recovery, and eight tackles on special teams.
Ojo was named a Western Division and a CFL All-Star.
