The Edmonton Eskimos start off the preseason with a 23-13 triumph over the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium.
New head coach Jason Maas says his team came off the bench fast and physical.
“That’s our mantra for the year is: “Start fast and finish everything we do”. You know, I thought the guys bought in to that from day one. You know, our guys do fly around, we practice ball security everyday and today we came out on the positive end of that and definitely influenced the game for us,” said Maas.
The Eskimos saw touchdowns from Jordan Lynch, Anthony Barrett, and Bryant Mitchell. Lynch says he got his opportunity to show what he’s got in the third quarter.
“I just went there, tried not to, you know, do too much — tried to make the most of my chances. You know, the offensive line did a good job, receivers caught the ball well, and the running backs ran well — kind of made my job a little easier,” said Lynch.
The next preseason game for the Edmonton Eskimos is in Edmonton on June 18 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The game starts at 2:00pm with the pregame show on 630CHED starting at 12:30pm. (djs)
