Here’s a prime example of why you never want to leave a garage door opener in your car if it’s parked outside, and why you should always lock the inside door between your garage and house if they’re attached.
Edmonton police say this exact situation led to four separate homes being broken into on the city’s west side, early in the morning last Thursday, while the occupants were sleeping.
The thieves simply broke into the cars outside, and then used the garage door openers to gain access to the attached homes.
Arrest warrants have now been issued for three suspects in the case.
Robert Paul Allard, who is 28.
Laetitia Angelique Acera, who is 23.
And Sean Robert Gullick, who is also 23.
Police say a fourth person, a 28-year-old woman from B.C., was arrested on Friday, and is now facing charges of possession of stolen property.
Investigators believe all four suspects travelled from lower mainland B.C, and were frequenting Edmonton-area hotels and motels since mid-May. (td)
