The Eskimos gathered today at the Commonwealth Stadium fieldhouse for their medicals and fitness testing on the eve of the opening day of training camp.
This will be the first training camp for new head coach Jason Maas who his looking forward to leading his team starting tomorrow.
Eskimos running back John White is back with the team after missing a year of action. White suffered a ruptured Achillies tendon during the first week of training camp in 2015 causing him to miss the rest of the season.
White says he’s thrilled to be joining his teammates again.
In 2014 White rushed for 852 yards scoring two rushing touchdowns and recorded a 6.3 yards rushing average in nine games. White also caught 17 passes for 182 yards scoring one touchdown.
Meanwhile, the Eskimos made a number of transactions Saturday afternoon.
They’ve added: LB Devin Arrington, OL Steven Baker, LB Joshua Brinkworth, DE Kaelin Burnett, WR Doug Corby, DL Reuben Frank, DB Cameron Fuller, LB Jimmy Gaines, DL Jabari Hunt, DB Kenny Ladler, LB DJ Lalama, LB Darryl McBride Jr. , DB Solomon Means , WR Bryant Mitchell , DE Sam Montgomery, DB C.J. Morgan, OL Darius Morris, LB Doug Parrish, CB Garry Peters, DB Terrell Pinson, DT Daniel Ross, WR Tim Smith , WR Darryl Surgent , DB Tyler Thornton, DB Josh Woodman and WR Brandon Zylstra.
The Eskimos have released: DB Michael Carter, LB Korey Jones, OL Alex Krasunick and WR Sederrik Cunningham.
And FB Zander Robinson has announced his retirement.
The Eskimos will have two on-field sessions tomorrow morning at Commonwealth Stadium at 8:30 and 10:30. Sessions are open to the public. The Eskimos will play their first pre-season game on June 11 in Calgary against the Stampeders.
