One million liquor bags across the province have been printed with an anti-drunk driving message.
It’s the result of a contest involving Students Against Drunk Driving, the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission, and the Alberta Liquor Store Association.
Sixth grade student Keana Hollmann won the contest with her drawing and slogan ‘If you drink and drive …you’ll make someone cry’.
The AGLC’s manager of social responsibility Eric Baich hopes adults will get the message.
“I think they’re hearing the message, but sometimes it needs to come from a different way,” says Baich. “For example, coming from a young voice, a young lens, then all of a sudden it can maybe make someone step back and really think about the consequences that can happen if they get behind the wheel after drinking.”
Baich says he also hopes that kids will get the message as well, and that can lead to good decision making when they become adults. tl/bw
