I came across this story from the Mirror:
BRIDEZILLA AND GROOMENSTEIN!
Most newlywed couples send out pretty simple thank you notes after their wedding reception, but one British couple took things to a whole new level of awful … by mailing out a “screw you” note … to a guest who didn’t give as generous a gift as they wanted.
The shocked guest, a former friend of the bride, gave a check for 100 pounds – nearly $200 – to the bride and groom, but instead of a simple thanks, she got a letter back saying they were “surprised” by how cheap she was. They added a P.S. that said she was welcome to send “an adjustment” that “would be thankfully received.”
The shocked guest asked for advice in an online forum and was told, by more than a few people, to stop payment on the check altogether. One said, “It is very rude, unreasonable … and even if you had given them a fiver they should be grateful.” (Daily Mirror)
So, certainly I would like your thoughts on the story, but I would also like to know this- what is the wedding expectation today? How much should be spent on the average gift?
