Senator Mike Duffy has returned from the war, at least that’s what it may seem like to him.
I wonder if it feels like he’s been released after being held hostage by both the criminal court and the court of public opinion for two and a half years.
But, there were no cheering crowds as he returned to Parliament Hill and no comment from him as he ignored questions from reporters.
In light of the judge’s comments about the vague rules and the maybe questionable but not criminal mixing of government and private business, will the senate be paying closer attention to everyone’s expense receipts and housing claims?
And the big question, can he get any compensation for the pay he lost?
Michael tweets, “Yes, he was found not guilty. “
But as I understand it, being suspended without pay was done as a disciplinary measure by the senate, under their rules.
Speaking of which, G tweets, “He was found not guilty due to inadequate rules, what do the inadequate rules say about getting his pay back?” He thinks, “What works one way should also work the other.”
Let me know what you think.
