The NDP government is restoring $16-million in funding to NorQuest College.
It’s welcome news for the Edmonton-based post-secondary institution, which is seeing an 8.9 percent growth rate. They expect to have 20,000 students by 2025.
Premier Rachel Notley says education is the most important investment the government of Alberta can make.
“Our government is dedicated to the idea that our most important asset is, in fact, our people; the citizens of this province,” says Notley. “And Education is the most important investment we can make in their future, and therefore in our future.”
NorQuest will use the money, coupled with an additional 45-million in previously allocated funds, to expand and retrofit over the next year. This includes consolidating in one larger downtown location. (scb)
