Matthew Green is Hamilton, Ontario’s first black city councillor.
Earlier this week he decided to file a complaint against the municipal police force after an officer approached him at a bus stop and essentially carded the councillor.
Green says it was a humiliating, hostile and confrontational interaction between himself and two police officers who approached him in the middle of the afternoon at a bus stop.
Green joined the Ryan Jespersen Show on Thursday to speak about the carding incident.
“There is no evidence that the practice of carding will make us safe. It raises further concerns, especially when it comes to Bill C-51 about what happens to the info once it’s put into a system.”
What do you think of random carding or proactive policing?
