The parents of Ezekiel Stephan have been found guilty and officially charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life.
Collet and David Stephan will be sentenced on June 13th after their 19-month old son died on March 2012 from bacterial meningitis, which they decided to treat with natural medicines that didn’t work.
They treated Ezekiel with hot peppers, garlic, onions and horseradish for two and a half weeks.
Canadian Press reporter Bill Graveland joined the Ryan Jespersen Show to talk about the guilty verdict.
“There are no winners in this trial. The crown noted that they did in fact love their son. They thought they were doing the best for them. The prosecutor did say that sometimes love just isn’t enough. You need to make sure they receive the care that they need.”
Did the crown get it right with this verdict?
