It’s over one month into spring and one city initiative is looking for help ridding Edmonton of winter litter.
Capital City Clean Up’s Don Belanger says there is a brand new opportunity for Edmontonians to get involved in making the city look its best for summer.
“Next week are doing our 15 to Clean challenge which happens from April 24th to April 30th and at the Edmonton Public Library,” says Belanger.
“So there will be free packs available for people that are interested in doing a mini clean up or micro clean up in their community. In 15 minutes you’d be surprised how much stuff you can pick up.”
He says it’s work like 15 to Clean that really makes the difference.
“Over the last seven years since 2009 we’ve noticed in our annual litter audits 57 per cent reduction in the amount of litter since then. So, you know, looking at it, that’s pretty fantastic in relation to the amount of litter that’s present pre-2009.”
The next big clean up for Capital City Clean Up happens on May 1 at Victoria Park. (djs)
