The CFL schedule was announced today and the Eskimos will begin defense of the Grey Cup against the team they beat to win it. As CFL tradition dictates, the two Grey Cup teams play at the home of the winner in week one – and that will be June 25th at Commonwealth when the RedBlacks and Eskimos open their seasons.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders will make three visits to Edmonton – June 11th for a preseason game then regular season games on July 8th and August 26th.
The front half of the schedule is heavy with home games – 4 of the first 5 games are at Commonwealth. The Eskimos close the season with 4 of 5 games on the road – including a four game road trip. In fact the Eskimos will disappear from Edmonton for 42 days. After a home game September 23rd against the BC Lions, the Eskimos will play four straight on the road with a bye week thrown in before they see the Toronto Argos for the final regular season game at November 5th at Commonwealth.
Bye weeks for the Eskimos are week 2 and week 17.
The Preseason has the Eskimos in Calgary June 11 and at home to Saskatchewan a week later.
